Guided kayaking adventures through the pristine waterways of the Okavango Delta — a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Where every stroke brings you face to face with nature in its most extraordinary form.
Every paddle stroke reveals something breathtaking. The Okavango Delta is a world of papyrus channels, golden light, and wild encounters unlike anywhere on Earth.

Adventurers from across Botswana and around the world share their Kayak X Trails experience.
“An absolutely mind-blowing experience. Our guide spotted a pod of hippos around the bend and knew exactly how to keep us safe while giving us the most incredible view. This is Botswana at its finest.”
“Brought my two teenagers and they are still talking about it weeks later. The sunset tour was magical — paddling in silence while the sky turned gold and crimson. The guides are professional, warm, and so knowledgeable.”
“I’d never kayaked in my life and was honestly nervous. But the briefing put all my fears to rest. Within 5 minutes I was paddling confidently through the most stunning landscape. Absolutely worth every pula.”
Founded in November 2025, Kayak X Trails combines adventure, conservation, and authentic Botswana hospitality in the world’s most extraordinary inland waterway.
Kayak X Trails is based in Maun, Botswana — the gateway to the Okavango Delta, one of the world’s most extraordinary wilderness areas and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our launch point sits next to Park View Hotel, making us easily accessible for both local adventurers and international visitors.
We believe the best way to truly experience the Okavango is from the water — gliding silently through papyrus-lined channels, watching wildlife undisturbed, and feeling the pulse of one of Africa’s most unique and irreplaceable ecosystems.
Every trip is guided by Level 3 certified professionals using QC 152 approved kayaks. Our guides aren’t just paddling instructors — they’re wildlife experts, storytellers, and passionate ambassadors for the Okavango. When you paddle with Kayak X Trails, you’re connecting with a landscape that has shaped Botswana’s identity for centuries.
Three pillars guide everything we do — from how we brief guests to how we navigate the delta.
The Okavango Delta is a living treasure. We operate with minimal environmental impact, follow leave-no-trace principles, and actively educate guests about protecting this UNESCO World Heritage Site for future generations.
Safety is woven into everything we do. From pre-trip river checks and mandatory life jackets to Level 3 guides and QC 152 approved equipment — every decision puts the welfare of our paddlers first, every single time.
Warm, genuine, and deeply rooted in local culture. Our guides bring the spirit of Botswana to every trip — sharing wildlife knowledge, delta stories, and the pride of a people who call this extraordinary landscape home.
We believe the delta should be accessible to everyone. Our tours welcome all experience levels. We tailor guidance to ensure every guest feels capable, confident, and comfortable on the water.
Every trip is an opportunity to learn. Our guides share insights into the delta’s ecology, wildlife behaviour, and conservation challenges, so every paddler leaves with a deeper connection to nature.
We’re proud to be a Botswana-owned, locally operated business. By choosing Kayak X Trails, you’re supporting local employment and contributing directly to sustainable eco-tourism in one of Africa’s most precious regions.
Every aspect of our operation meets or exceeds industry safety standards. You are in expert hands from the moment you arrive at the river.
Our guides are the heart of Kayak X Trails. Locally born, wilderness-trained, and passionate about sharing the Okavango with the world.
Level 3 certified with 8+ years on the Thamalakane. Kopano has encyclopaedic knowledge of the delta’s wildlife and water systems.
A trained wildlife educator and emergency first responder. Tshepiso brings calm confidence to every trip. Specialises in sunset and delta tours.
Botswana’s first female Level 3 kayak guide. Boitumelo leads our training sessions and is passionate about getting more women on the water.
Four unique ways to experience the Okavango Delta — each with its own light, mood, and magic. All are suitable for every level of paddler.
Start your day on the water as the delta wakes around you. Morning light filters through the reeds, birds are at their most active, and the air is crisp — perfect conditions for your first paddle on the Okavango.
The Okavango at sunset is a spectacle unlike any other. Paddle through glassy channels reflecting the colours of dusk as silhouettes of birds cross the horizon. Africa’s most beautiful hour, from a kayak.
Go deeper into the delta’s heart. These extended expeditions take you through channels rarely seen by tourists — past papyrus islands, through channels teeming with wildlife, into one of Earth’s most biodiverse ecosystems.
New to kayaking or want to sharpen your technique? Our Level 3 guides offer personalised sessions covering paddle mechanics, water safety, balance drills, and the confidence to explore the delta independently.

Before every trip, our guides walk and observe the entire paddle route looking for hippos, crocodiles, and hazards. Only when the route is confirmed safe do we launch.
Every participant wears a life jacket before entering their kayak — no exceptions. Life jackets are provided, fitted, and checked by our team before every session.
All guides hold Level 3 kayaking certification and are trained in water safety, wildlife awareness, first aid, and emergency response. They’ve paddled these waters hundreds of times.
Every trip begins with a thorough safety and paddling briefing covering technique, water protocols, what to do if you capsize, and how to respond to wildlife encounters safely.
First aid supplies are present on every session. Our guides are trained first responders able to handle common water-related incidents. Guest welfare is always the immediate priority.
